Aston Villa have been reported to be showing interest in signing Paulo Dybala in January with a deal now having a deadline set coming up.

It has been no secret that Aston Villa are looking to add attacking reinforcements to their squad in the January window.

This has come despite Unai Emery guiding his side to a great start to the season which sees Villa sitting in second place.

There have been links to various positions this month with a young goalkeeper recently discussed. There has also been conversations around Jeremie Frimpong as a defensive option.

With that being said there have been attacking options spoken of across various positions. First came Cyril Ngonge as a wing and midfield option before Artem Dovbyk came up as a backup striker.

Now there has been a link that has been exciting Villa fans, especially given the cheap fee that Paulo Dybala is available for.

Paulo Dybala Aston Villa deadline set

The links to the Argentine have made Villa fans reminisce of the days when they signed Philippe Coutinho years ago. This link should excite Villa fans more, however.

Dybala is playing and making a great contribution. In 13 games this season he has scored five goals and assisted six, according to FotMob.

With all that being said, it is no surprise that rumours linking him away from Roma have come up given that Roma sit eighth. They currently are four points away from the Champions League qualification spots in Serie A.

In a recent article, it has been said by Sports Witness that several clubs are showing interest in Dybala this winter.

On that, they said: “Among the players who have such details in their contract is Paulo Dybala. They hint that times are tense at AS Roma, because his €13m release clause for foreign clubs ‘will expire on January 15th’.

“Because of this, there has been a fair amount of activity around the player, with Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle all coming forward to ask Dybala’s agents for information in the ‘last few hours’.”

It appears that the Villans have just four days to make a deal happen if they want it in the next three to four days. There has been a lack of reports suggesting that the deal is moving forward so far.

The signing of Dybala would certainly represent a step forward as Villa look to secure a Champions League spot. He has fans excited who are hopeful that a deal can progress.
