Aston Villa now learn of £10m target’s ‘preference’ in January after bid accepted

Despite reportedly having a bid accepted this week, Aston Villa have now been told about Cyril Ngonge and his desire to remain in Italy.

It has been a great season for Aston Villa so far but it has still been made clear that January reinforcements are wanted.

It appears that Unai Emery is chasing some attacking signings despite of the riches of forward talent Villa have this season.

With that being said, it appeared that the Villans had moved quickly in order to sign young Belgian, Cyril Ngonge. Earlier this week it was reported that the £13m rated player had been scouted.

Following this we reported that a bid had now been ‘verbally agreed‘ between Villa and Hellas Verona. It appears that the deal has now hit a rough patch.

Cyril Ngonge takes rain check on Aston Villa move

As recently as yesterday it had looked like a move for the young attacker was progressing quickly in the first week. Now reports suggest that Ngonge is unsure about the move and a move away from Italy.

In a report by Tutto Hellas Verona, they have suggested that a move within Italy may be more to his liking this window.

On that, they said: “Rumours are increasing. Yesterday’s news, confirmed today on L’Arena, concerns Cyril Ngonge. The Belgian striker ended up in the sights of English club Aston Villa who would have put a sum of between 10 and 12 million euros on the table plus possible bonuses.

“He has never made a secret of his preference for Italy, in particular Fiorentina, who would already have their eyes on him.”

It now looks like Ngonge would rather stay in Verona or make a move to Fiorentina and stay in the Serie A for the season. This would rule the Villans out of a potential race to sign the Belgian should he favour that move.

There had been a lack of reports from the English media whether or not this move was going to happen. If reports in Italy are to be believed then the move sounded as if it was moving closer.

In the January window, transfers have to move quickly and this is exactly what happened with his move in a week.

Moving forward the Villans need to pick their targets and move quickly. It should be of consolation to Villa fans that the club often move quickly and quietly before making signings. Here’s to hoping this January window is the same.
