Out on loan Aston Villa man, Philippe Coutinho has now been linked to signing for Inter Miami to end his torrid time at Villa Park.

Ever since signing for Aston Villa on a permanent basis, it is no secret that Philippe Coutinho has struggled.

This is despite a superb loan spell with the club where he managed to score five in 19 games, according to FotMob. This saw Villa activate an option to sign the Brazilian on a permanent basis in the summer of 2022.

Since signing he has managed just 26 appearances due to injury, scoring just one goal in that time. This came in an excellent performance against Arsenal where he made his last appearance for three months. Following this he only featured in 24 minutes of action.

Now he finds himself out on loan with Al-Duhail SC where he failed to make an impact with the Qatari side. Rumours have now emerged suggesting that Coutinho may be set to make a move stateside this winter.

Coutinho to rejoin Messi with Inter Miami

It appears that the Villans and Unai Emery want to cut their losses and let the Brazilian go on a permanent basis. The quality that he possesses has always been clear but he hasn’t always shown it in recent years in B6.

Given the lack of form that he has also shown while out on loan in a lower-standard league compared to his usual standards, there isn’t much hope of a Premier League return.

With that being said, AS has now reported that Coutinho may be of interest to various sides in America in January.

On that, he said: “Unai Emery does not want him in the Villains’ squad and the normal thing is that another way out will be sought for him in the form of a loan. There is especially talk about the MLS and specifically about clubs like Inter Miami or LA Galaxy.”

A move to join David Beckham’s Inter Miami could see Coutinho rejoin with many of his former teammates. Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba all line up for The Herons and were all Barcelona stars.

This move would make sense from the Brazilian’s point of view as he would line up with former teammates in a league growing in quality.

Villa fans won’t begrudge Coutinho a move away from the club and success in the future. It is just a shame how his time with Villa has come to an end.
