Aston Villa travel to Tottenham Hotspur this weekend but they aren’t without injury concerns with Jacob Ramsey, John McGinn and Diego Carlos all being assessed.

It has been a great start to the season for Aston Villa which has come in spite of various injury concerns. Long-term ones at that.

With that being said, Unai Emery’s side have performed at a top level which currently sees them sit in fifth place in the Premier League.

With injuries sustained by Alex Moreno, Jacob Ramsey and Emi Buendia prior to the season, added to by Tyrone Mings on opening day.

The Villans have done well given that four players who started most games last season, are all missing for this campaign.

In recent weeks Moreno has returned to the bench and fans are hopeful of the returns of other stars in the coming weeks.

What has been said about Jacob Ramsey?

Ramsey suffered an injury while on international duty with England Under 21s which has seen him play just three times this season.

The youngster came on and scored against Brighton in the 6-1 demolition, earlier this season. He hasn’t played since however.

On that, Birmingham Live has said: “After recovering from a broken metatarsal – which kept him sidelined for 10 weeks – in September, Ramsey suffered a reoccurrence of the foot injury.

He had returned from injury last month in the defeat at Legia Warsaw and came off the bench in wins against Chelsea and Brighton.”

Villa fans were delighted to see the star boy return to the squad but were disappointed to see his injury reoccur.

Now it seems there is reason to be happy: “He could make his comeback against Tottenham after the November international break. Emery gave an update ahead of the club’s match with Fulham, revealing the 22-year-old is close to returning to full training at Bodymoor Heath.”

What has been said about McGinn and Carlos?

It is safe to say that McGinn has been one of the best and most important players under Emery this season. Fans were left worried after he came off late on for Scotland against Norway.

On that, it has been said: “The midfielder is an injury concern after hobbling off during Scotland’s 3-3 draw with Norway at Hampden Park on Sunday night. The injury happened after he scored and assisted in the game.

“He was withdrawn with 10 minutes of the game left to play, although no update was given after the match. Unai Emery will be hoping his withdrawal was precautionary.”

McGinn did complete media duties after the game, so hopefully, this points towards him being fit.

Carlos looked to have picked up an injury against AZ Alkmaar but played on before being taken off later on. Following this: “The centre-back missed the 3-1 win over Fulham before the international break. He could potentially be back for the game against Tottenham.”

Despite it looking difficult for the Brazilian to displace Ezri Konsa and Pau Torres this season, to have him on the bench is a positive.

To have Ramsey back in the side and making sure super John McGinn can maintain his starting role. With Carlos back also, the Villans’ squad is looking stronger week on week.
