The transfer saga revolving around Jhon Duran and Aston Villa is set to continue as he is once again linked to various clubs.

This transfer window has been a slow burner for Aston Villa with them failing to make many strides forward in the window.

So far the only signing that Unai Emery has made this month is youngster Kosta Nedeljkovic who won’t play until next season.

There have been other rumours suggesting that the Villans could sign other talents like Morgan Rogers or Jonathan Rowe.

By the way of departures, Finn Azaz left on a permanent while Leander Dendoncker departed on a loan move this week.

One rumour that has been bubbling under the surface over the whole window has been a move away for Jhon Duran. As the window moves on the rumour mill is intensifying.

The Colombian has been linked with various clubs over the January transfer window. These started with rumours of AC Milan at the beginning of the window.

Following this, rumours suggesting a move to Chelsea and then West Ham United have come up in the past week.

It is safe to say that Duran won’t have played as many minutes as he would have wanted, which explains the move. According to FotMob, he has only played 174 minutes in which time he has registered two goals.

Speaking with Give Me Sport, Dean Jones has suggested that a move for the 20-year old could still happen in January.

On that, he said: “It’s a strange situation because I’ve been hearing whispers for weeks about him being available. I think he was touted around quite a bit and a couple of clubs have started to bite on it recently.

“That is one of the deals – and there aren’t many deals right now – that I think could cause a domino effect. I think Duran leaving Villa is one that could cause a flurry of deals because, suddenly, everybody is chasing another forward. That is one that could cause a bit of excitement late on.”

With a move for him potentially on the cards, this is a rumour which could rumble on until the January deadline passes. This won’t please Emery who will want this situation sorted sooner rather than later.

The Villans will want a move to be done in time for a replacement to be found and signed before Duran leaves. Given that he only signed for the club this time last year, it will go down as a disappointing move should he leave.
