The end of the transfer window is fast approaching and Aston Villa could be very busy as they consider moving for a second Championship star.
Aston Villa were made to settle for a replay in the FA Cup last night after drawing 0-0 against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
It was the second time in as many games that a match involving Villa ended goalless after Unai Emery’s side were held against Everton in the Premier League.
The Villans’ performance levels have dropped off considerably since beating Manchester City and Arsenal in consecutive matches, perhaps prompting them to make moves in the transfer market.
After being blunted in front of goal, Emery is looking to strengthen his attack and has seen two bids get rejected for Middlesborough winger Morgan Rogers.
With a third bid said to be in the offing, the Spaniard won’t give up hope on landing his primary target that easily.
It has now been revealed that Villa have checked up on the progress of Norwich City wideman Jonathan Rowe, who they have been linked with regularly this term.

Aston Villa check up on the progress of Jonathan Rowe
Villa’s track record of shopping for talent in the Championship is strong. They’ve brought in Ollie Watkins from Brentford for £28 million, Ezri Konsa for £12 million and smashed their transfer record in 2021 to sign Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City.
Now, after chasing Rogers for the majority of this window, Rowe has emerged as a potential acquisition.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim they have ‘checked in on the progress’ of the 20-year-old.
Rowe is quickly becoming one of the best players in the division and is a constant menace for defenders to play against.
The youngster utilises his low centre of gravity and exceptional dribbling to glide past his opponents.
It’s this level of skill that Emery craves in his side and has prompted suggestions of him being valued towards the £20 million mark.
If Villa are serious about their pursuit of the England U21 dynamo, though, they’ll have to part ways with Jhon Duran first to be able to cough up the funds.
It doesn’t look as though they are willing to part ways with him, despite interest from Chelsea, which means a move for Rowe is unlikely.
However, if they want someone who has the potential to repeat Buendia’s success at Villa Park, they should look no further than the talented ‘gem’, as hailed by talent scout Jacek Kulig.
