The amount Aston Villa are willing to pay to land one transfer target has now been explained.

Unai Emery and Monchi have showcased their desire to improve the Aston Villa squad so far this summer.

The Villans are preparing for their 2024/25 Champions League adventure, with the club’s transfer activity telling of Emery’s hopes to progress after last term’s success.

Having already welcomed seven new faces to the squad, Villa aren’t expected to stop there with another target’s future still undecided.

How much Aston Villa are willing to pay to sign transfer target Joao Felix

Villa’s admiration for Joao Felix has been speculated this summer, as the 24-year-old eyes a new adventure away from Atletico Madrid.

Emery sees Felix as a ‘dream’ signing as he looks for a new club after spending the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Barcelona.

A report from GIVEMESPORT has now hinted at how much Villa would be willing to pay to sign the forward, insisting that Emery is ‘pushing hard’ for the transfer.

It’s said that the Midlands club would be ‘willing to pay’ up to €60m (£51m) to secure a deal for Felix, which would be the majority of the fee received from Moussa Diaby’s sale.

GIVEMESPORT also claim that if Atletico were to ask for a fee higher than £51m, offloading Jhon Duran could extend Villa’s budget.

With Duran expected to leave after disrespecting Villa amid links to West Ham, it could be that Monchi turns his focus to Felix as a replacement.

Villa must remain firm on Felix price

It’s clear that Villa want to sign Felix however, Monchi must approach the situation with caution, considering how high the total expense on the player could be.

Already, the Portugal international’s £235k-a-week wages would make him the highest paid player at Villa by almost £100k-a-week, which is certainly something to consider.

Added to that, while the 24-year-old’s potential is astronomical, Felix has struggled for form over the past few years, seeing his development buffer slightly.

Striking a deal in the region of £51m would be a strong bit of business from Monchi, particularly as the pending sale of Duran looks set to bring in a healthy profit.

Only time will tell just how hard Villa intend to push to sign Felix, who has been left out of Atletico’s start to pre-season as his future remains uncertain.
