A round-up of all the latest Aston Villa news as the club close in on a Champions League winner while striker Jhon Duran outrages the Villa Park faithful.
Aston Villa transfer rumours: Barcelona captain could make Villa Park switch
Villa has not wasted any time during the summer transfer window. After achieving Champions League football, the club has made multiple changes to the squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Many of the incoming signings have been eye-catching, most notably Amadou Onana who joined the club from Everton.
Now, Unai Emery is aiming for another statement signing. Villa are reportedly chasing Barcelona club captain Sergio Roberto. Reports state that the Birmingham outfit are ‘best positioned’ to sign the defender who has had a glittering career in Catalonia.
However, Villa will be up against both West Ham and Ajax for his signature.

Jhon Duran outrages Aston Villa fans

On the other side of the transfer window, one man who has long been linked away from Villa Park is Duran.
The Colombian has been wanted by both Chelsea and West Ham throughout the summer with the latter currently the front runners.
However, it has become clear in recent weeks that the striker is growing impatient. Duran has told Villa that he wishes to move to West Ham after multiple bids were rejected.
Now, earlier this week, Duran was caught doing the Irons gesture on Instagram Live which has outraged many of the Villa Park faithful.

Moussa Diaby sends message after departing Aston Villa

Despite only signing last summer, Villa’s record signing has made a quick departure from the club.
The winger left for Saudi Arabia for around £50 million after an inconsistent 2023/24 campaign.
Upon departing, Moussa Diaby took to social media to say goodbye to the club. It read: “Villans, thank you for everything. It’s time to say goodbye. I’d like to thank the club, the team members, the staff and everyone working at Aston Villa.
“I’ve always given my best to help the club and the team, and we’ve had some great moments that will stay in my memory. We’ve had a fantastic season, with moments of joy and happiness.
“Together, we’ve achieved our objectives. The club will be playing in the Champions League next year and I wish them success. It’s a season I will remember forever.
“Villans, I won’t forget you.”
