Another twist in the Joao Felix transfer saga which could be sensational news for Aston Villa

Joao Felix’s transfer saga has taken another twist which could benefit Aston Villa amid his links to the Birmingham outfit.

Villa have shown no signs of slowing down in the transfer market this summer. After qualifying for the Champions League, manager Unai Emery has ensured that all areas of the Claret and Blue squad have been upgraded.

While this has resulted in the loss of some first-team players, the club have made some excellent signings that have no doubt improved the team.

Now, Emery is aiming for his biggest signing yet. Over recent months, Villa have been linked to Felix. The Portuguese international spent the last season on loan to Barcelona but his move was not made permanent.

However, a recent development in the saga could prove to be extremely beneficial to Villa going into pre-season.

While many of the Atletico Madrid players are training ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, Felix is not a part of the main group.

A video emerged on Friday morning showing that the attacker is training alone in the Spanish capital rather than with the rest of the squad.

While this is obviously terrible for the striker, it could spell extremely good news for Villa.

Fabrizio Romano already confirmed earlier this week that talks between Villa and Atletico were ‘active’ for Felix. Emery reportedly sees the attacker as a ‘dream signing’ and if he is training alone, it only signals that his future at his current side is over.

This could put Villa in a better negotiating position as well because the Spanish side may just want Felix to depart rather than risk keeping an unhappy player.

It would be sensational if Villa could secure the signing of Felix over the next week. If Emery could have even a small amount of pre-season training with the attacker it could do wonders for both parties.

The longer Villa leaves the transfer, the more likely it is that another club will swoop in or Atletico decide they want to keep the Portuguese international.

A signing like Felix could completely transform the side and ensure that they are once again in contention to qualify for Champions League football in the upcoming campaign.

Hopefully, over the coming days, Monchi and Villa can get a breakthrough in the negotiations.
