Aston Villa are said to be interested in Arsenal defender, Kieran Tierney as Unai Emery looks to reunite with the Scotland international.

It has been a great season so far for Aston Villa, but with that being said they are still interested in adding quality to their squad.

With the January transfer window just over a month away, there will be plenty of opportunity for the Villans to bring players in.

There have been rumours of players leaving Villa Park with Douglas Luiz being one and Leander Dendoncker being another.

With that being said there have also been rumours of incoming with left-back appearing to be a focus area. Marcos Acuna is one of the names being rumoured and now Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney has been linked with a B6 move.

What has been said about Kieran Tierney?

Tierney signed for Arsenal back in 2019 from Celtic in a deal worth £25m which seemed to be a good deal for a player with great potential. Ironically, it was Unai Emery who signed the Scotland international defender for the Gunners. Upon his signing, the Spaniard revealed he was ‘delighted’ to be signing the left-back.

His time in North London has been hampered with injury but he has still managed to make a positive impression. The man who replaced Emery at Arsenal, Mikel Arteta has referred to the Scot as ‘special‘ not so long ago.

Now reports have emerged suggesting that Villa are interested in Tierney. FootballTransfers have suggested the Villans wanted him earlier than the summer: “The Spaniard [Emery] even tried to launch a bid for the versatile Scot during the summer, when Sociedad ultimately won the race.”

This season, the former Celtic man is spending a loan spell with Real Sociedad and as a result, wouldn’t be available until the summer. This may make a move become easier.

Continuing on, the report suggested: “Aston Villa, however, are also very interested in the 26-year-old Arsenal star, whose contract expires in 2026. and could launch a summer transfer bid of their own.”

Considering the form of Lucas Digne this season and the near return of Alex Moreno, a new left-back is a strange option. This combined with the Acuna news points towards a defender being a favourable option.

On the Frenchman, it has been said: “Unai Emery is not entirely happy with Lucas Digne at left-back, with the France international having been approached by a number of clubs from the Saudi Pro League with a view to a transfer.”

If that is the case, signing Tierney does make sense and would be an interesting one to see at Villa Park.
