New reports are emerging suggesting that new clubs, as well as Arsenal, are showing an interest in Aston Villa star, Douglas Luiz.

After a great start to the season for Aston Villa, there have been many standout figures in their squad so far.

Under the stewardship of Unai Emery, there has been limited rotation of the starting XI as he has opted to trust a familiar side week in, week out.

Last time out was a similar story as the Villans travelled to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and came away with a 2-1 win.

Thanks to goals from Pau Torres and Ollie Watkins, Villa came back from behind after Giovani Lo Celso opened the scoring for Spurs.

Once again, Douglas Luiz shone as we picked out his 94% passing accuracy, 66 touch performance. This has sparked more rumours linking him away from the club.

What has been said about Douglas Luiz?

It has been a theme in recent weeks that Arsenal are interested in signing Luiz either in January or the summer. It must be said that Emery ‘wants to keep him‘ amidst all the rumours.

Today there have been reports from TEAMtalk that two new clubs have entered the race to sign the Brazil international. These two are Manchester City and Liverpool which means that the Premier League top three now hold interest in him. The shock name that has been added into the mix is Tottenham.

On the rumours, it has been said: “Sources have confirmed that Man City have continued to track him,  Guardiola remains an admirer of the player.

“Liverpool also like Luiz, and while there is not yet clarity on how they next add to their midfield. Tottenham have also had Luiz on their radar in the past year.”

Although City and the Reds may pose a bigger threat to the Villans in terms of what they can offer, fans shouldn’t worry.

With Villa fighting at the top table this year and Champions League a realistic ambition, there is lots to offer in B6 also.

On that point: “sources are indicating that it would take close to £80million if anyone wants to entertain the idea of signing him.”

With the state of the transfer market in 2023, Luiz would cost easily that much, if not more. Given his Premier League experience and form, he is up there with one of the better midfielders right now.

It will take an almighty bid to tempt Villa into parting with their star man so Villa fans shouldn’t worry.
