Things have been slow and steady for Aston Villa in the transfer window so far – but it could be about to ramp up.

Unai Emery is still in the market for a few names to strengthen his Aston Villa squad as they look to push for a Champions League place in the second half of the season.

A striker is arguably needed as back-up to Ollie Watkins, should the prolific goalscorer become injured at any point in the Premier League season. A right-back potentially is also on the cards.

Could there be one on the horizon? Or will we see players departing Villa Park? Here’s all the latest transfer gossip – brought to you by Aston Villa News.

Could Unai Emery get a winger?

Villa have been blessed out wide this season. Leon Bailey has been on fire and Moussa Diaby has been a fine acquisition.

But with the prospect of Champions League football looming, and dare we say it, the Premier League title – will Emery need more attacking options?

Well, rumours say Villa are now ‘interested’ in a Serie A winger, who could join them for the second half of the season at Bodymoor Heath.

Unai Emery told to go for Arsenal star

In what seems like a lifetime ago, Emery was once the manager of Premier League rivals Arsenal.

They’re now one of the Premier League’s big dogs, who boast a sea of talented players.

So could Villa dip their toes into their roster? They’ve been told to reignite interest in a ‘very good’ 23-year-old.

Aston Villa’s prolific striker target re-surfaces

Speaking of old flames… this one has been nearly four years in the making.

Emery needs a striker, and none may be more prolific than this man. He’s bagged 68 goals in 160 games for his club.

Steven Gerrard was interested during his reign, and at £36m… it could be a bargain.

Or finally… a defender for the Villans?

Just to cover all bases, it appears Villa are also looking at an unorthodox defensive option.

Villa are said to be one of the Premier League teams who are interested in signing a League One defender.

At 20 years old he has already made 117 appearances – he’s one for the future…
