Aston Villa could reignite their interest in Emile Smith Rowe in the January window as Dean Jones suggests he would be a good signing.
It has been no secret that Aston Villa are in the market for attacking reinforcements with many names already linked.
It has been a great season for Unai Emery’s side. This currently sees them sitting in second place in the Premier League.
This has seen stars like Ollie Watkins shine, especially given that he has nine goals and eight assists in the league, according to FotMob.
With that being said, attacking depth in certain areas could be improved upon which has sparked transfer rumours. The most recent has been Cyril Ngonge but it has been made unclear whether or not this deal will happen.
Now it has been suggested that Aston Villa should go after a fellow Champions League spot holder for one of their squad options.

Aston Villa told to go back for Emile Smith Rowe
Villa have shown interest in signing Emile Smith Rowe in the past but all advances were rejected. He had become a key cog in Mikel Arteta’s machine at one stage. Now he is a bit part player at best and is suffering from a lack of minutes.
According to FotMob, the Englishman has only registered 117 Premier League minutes where he has made an assist. With this being the case it is no surprise that he is being linked away. Speaking with Give Me Sport, Dean Jones has suggested that Villa should take advantage of the situation.
On that point, he said: “Villa made a couple of bids for Smith Rowe last year and if that interest is still bubbling away. Then this would be an ideal moment to go and have another go.
“I feel like Arsenal will be tempted to cash in on someone who isn’t an essential first-team player. Smith Rowe is a very good player with a really good attitude and good application.”
It is clear that he has been on Villa’s radar in the past and he could represent a good bit of business. This is especially as he has played under Emery in the past already.
Jones believes Smith Rowe would fit in at Villa Park. Continuing on, he added: “I think it’d be a very good signing for Aston Villa. Part of me does wonder if they’ve been keeping an eye on the fact he’s only started one Premier League game this season.”
There have been no concrete links to the Englishman so far this winter, as of yet. There is no doubt about his quality and what he could add to the Villa side. It may be worth a bid to test Arsenal’s resolve.
