Aston Villa are one of many Premier League heavyweights to be showing interest in Owen Asemota from Arsenal’s youth academy.

In recent years, Aston Villa have made many signings centred around youth players with a mixed bag of results.

In the past year, under Unai Emery, it has been difficult for young stars to get into the first-team set up. With that being said, Omari Kellyman and Seb Revan have both played minutes for the senior team this campaign.

On the flip side, youngsters like Tim Iroegbunam have struggled and face being sold in upcoming transfer windows.

That hasn’t stopped the club from attempting to bring in the best young stars with Rory Wilson and Louie Barry being key examples.

Not too long ago, the Villans were winning the FA Youth Cup and had a great academy side so these signings are of benefit.

What has been said about Owen Asemota?

At 16-years old, not many people will have heard of Owen Asemota. He is an England Under 16s international and currently plays his football for Arsenal.

Despite his tender age he has featured in the Gunners’ Under 18s squads on the bench but is yet to start.

According to Allnigeriasoccer.com, the youngster is being tracked by many Premier League outfits. These include Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea as well as Villa.

With that being said, it has been reported: “He has been offered a scholarship deal that would see him remain at the north London club until at least June 2026. But the goalkeeper has yet to accept the deal, throwing his future into doubt.”

These kinds of moves are becoming more common as players move around different youth set-ups. One is Omari Hutchinson who moved from Arsenal to Chelsea quite recently.

The report continued, saying: “Arsenal are at risk of losing promising Golden Eaglets-eligible Owen Asemota to their Premier League rivals.”

If Asemota was to make the move to B6, he would come with plenty of pedigree. In November, he was part of the England U16s squad to win the Val-De-Marne Tournament

With his contract situation looking like it could go either way, Villa could step in and make a better offer. Looking at the quality of the other teams interested, Asemota must be some keeper and one not to be missed.

A move to Villa Park could see him take first-team duty from Emi Martinez in the near future. Given the ages of each, this kind of situation is very possible.

Although the competition is there, Villa have a rich history of academy talent and Asemota could be the next.
