Aston Villa may look to sell Tim Iroegbunam in January or the summer should he not break into the first team this season.

After a successful loan spell with Queens Park Rangers, many Aston Villa fans felt that Tim Iroegbunam was the future of the midfield.

The England youth international was on loan when Unai Emery came into the club and hasn’t made an appearance under the Spaniard.

An injury had hampered the midfielder’s ability to feature in pre-season or find a summer move so he is now back featuring for the Villans’ youth sides.

He has featured on the bench in recent weeks but is still yet to feature in a single minute in any competition this campaign.

What has been said about Tim Iroegbunam?

Iroegbunam was signed from West Bromwich Albion back in 2021 and was seen as a real coup for the club’s academy.

He has only gone on to make three appearances for the Villa first team but did impress in his spell at Loftus Road.

As a result of his time in the Championship, many fans were hopeful for the future but nothing has transpired so far.

According to the Daily Mail, a move could come to pass in January or the summer seeing Iroegbunam depart the club.

On that, Tom Collomosse said: “As for Iroegbunam, unless he breaks through in the second half of the season, you have to assume Villa would sell him. On the basis, he represents ‘pure profit’ as his fellow academy products did.”

It must be said that Villa fans won’t want the Englishman to leave without being given a true chance to impress. He is a different type of player than what is already available, a tall and powerful player with great skill.

Despite looking like a typical, lengthy defensive midfielder his quick feet and tricky skills make him different.

Although a move away would bring profit in for FFP, without a chance in the first team under Emery, it would hurt to lose him so soon.
