Former Argentina international, Sergio Goycochea has opened up about Aston Villa star, Emi Martinez and how good he has been recently.
It has been a great start to the season for Aston Villa as they currently sit in third place in the Premier League.
The work of Unai Emery has been nothing short of transformational to go from a relegation battle to Champions League chase.
This has seen many players in the Villa squad go from strength to strength and show some real quality in the league.
As a result, there has been plenty of praise in the media for stars like John McGinn, and transfer rumours surrounding Douglas Luiz.

One man who has become very popular on a global scale is Emi Martinez and his performances have been singled out by his compatriot.
What has Sergio Goycochea said about Emi Martinez?
Sergio Goycochea is a former Argentina international who also made 200 club career appearances across ten teams. For his nation, he was part of the side that won two Copa America titles in the early 90s.
Aston Villa’s goalkeeper and ‘Worlds Number One‘ has now won the Copa America and a World Cup with Argentina, following on from Goycochea.
The past has now praised the present in a recent interview with TyC Sports as Dibu’s recent performances were praised.
On that, Goyochea said: “He is in the best league in the world, he practically plays a semi-final every weekend because he always has five in front of him, six or seven national team players.
“He is having a good performance and his team’s position in the table is heroic. If you analyse his level and the level at which he continues to maintain himself in the national team and, obviously, his personality, which has also brought him here and magnifies his figure.”
It is safe to say that Martinez has had a superb season so far and has contributed massively to Villa’s rise up the league. His international trophies do boost his profile but his club form has also helped his case.
With that being said, Goyochea sees the Villa man as the best: “For me, yes, he is the best. Saying it can be very subjective because we are Argentines, but there is no doubt that he is among the three best in the world.
Following his being awarded the Yashin Trophy last month, he has been recognised by his peers officially. Coming from his compatriot, this will mean a lot to the Villa man.
Dibu is loved at Villa Park and long may his great form continue in Claret and Blue and even internationally.
