Aston Villa captain, John McGinn has opened up about the dressing room at Villa Park and the fact he has banned conversation of the title.
It has been a great start to the season for Aston Villa which has seen them boost their profile into the chat around the title race.
Under the tutelage of Unai Emery, the Villans have gone from strength to strength. Last season they achieved a Europa Conference League spot and now they look like they could go one step further this time.
At the time of writing, Villa sit in third place in the Premier League but are just two points off Liverpool in top spot. They are also securely inside the top four with them five points above Tottenham in fifth place.
With all this being said, the Villa captain isn’t getting carried away even with the form they have been showing.

What has John McGinn said?
John McGinn has been one of Villa’s best players this season in spite of a standout campaign for all in claret and blue. His goal against Arsenal was enough to secure all three points and maintain Villa’s third place in the table.
It must be said that the good form hasn’t been taken advantage of by those associated with the club. Emery wasn’t forthcoming to talk about the title and neither was former manager, Dean Smith.
This sentiment was shared by McGinn who has been discussing this with the Express and Star. On that, he said: “I’m banning the T-word. It’s game week 16 so there’s a long way to go.
“We respect everyone round about us who have been in this position for years. We’re newbies – if we can keep it up, we’ll see.”
It must be said that in and around them are the elite sides of English football. Treble winners City below them, former champions Liverpool and Arsenal also surround the Villans.
With all this, McGinn has begun to temper expectations. On that, added: “It’s very easy to get carried away. I’ve got my eye on a few who could potentially get carried away but we aren’t. The celebrations are muted. We are proud of where we are but we are completely alien to this.
“We just have to take each game as it comes, as clichéd as it sounds, and see where we go.”
It has been a great season so far and there have been so many standout names. They have all contributed to where Villa are now and are the reasons why a title is even being spoken about. Although the players aren’t getting carried away, fans are very excited for what is to come.
