Aston Villa star, Douglas Luiz continues to be linked with a move to Arsenal but now it seems a minimum asking price has been set.
There have been many standout performers for Aston Villa this season which sees them sitting in third place in the Premier League.
Under the tutelage of Unai Emery, there have been multiple players who have improved vastly in the past 12 months.
With some amazing wins in recent months, Villa’s stock is on the rise and as a result, rivals are sitting up and taking notice. This has seen some of their stars be linked with moves away, not that Villa are needing to sell.
Interest in Douglas Luiz is something that has refused to go away in recent months…

What has been said about Douglas Luiz?
It is safe to say that Luiz has been one of the best and most important players for the Villans this season. As a result, interest in the Brazilian is continuing as it has done in previous seasons.
In a report bt the Daily Mail, they have suggested that a price tag has been set by Villa. On that, they said: “Bids peaked at about £25million [in January] but Villa now believe Luiz is worth more than four times that sum.”
The current state of the transfer market has potentially impacted this. In the past year, Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice have all moved for more than £100m. On top of this, Luiz also signed a new long-term deal with Villa in October 2022.
With all that being said, The Mail have added: “It is also understood that there is no specific release clause in that contract, which would leave Villa powerless to keep Luiz if a certain fee were offered.”
It must be said that with Villa sitting in third place and now firmly in the top four, they are in no need to sell their stars. Especially given the form of Luiz, Villa can’t let him go.
Alongside Boubacar Kamara and with Leon Bailey and John McGinn in front of them, the midfield in B6 has been top-class. The unit that Emery has built has contributed to their successes this season and derailing this could be costly.
Even for £100m, Luiz can not be sold and needs to be kept as he becomes one of the best players Villa Park has seen in many years. It is safe to say he is integral to the project in B6.
