Aston Villa will don a one-off kit for their friendlies against Walsall and FC Spartak Trnava in preparation for the 2024/25 campaign.

Villa announced a partnership with sportswear giants addidas to replace Castro in manufacturing the club’s kits for the 2024/25 campaign earlier this year. The deal is worth £17 million per year and is seen as a massive coup for the Birmingham outfit.

However, the new strips for the upcoming season are yet to be released. Villa recently gave an update on when the kits will be released as they admitted that they were ‘a bit behind’.

With the friendlies set to begin on July 17 against Walsall, many fans were wondering what kit Villa’s squad would wear for the tie.

Now, the club have confirmed that Emery’s side will wear a ‘special’ one-off addition for their first two matches.

Aston Villa will wear a one-off kit for their friendlies against Walsall and FC Spartak Trnava

Villa’s first two friendlies of their pre-season will begin this week. The club will first travel to the Bescot Stadium to face Walsall on Wednesday before travelling to Slovakia on Saturday to take on FC Spartak Trnava at Štadión Antona Malatinského.

For the match, the Villa squad are set to play in an all-white addidas kit that will bear the Foundation’s name across its front and feature the club’s 150th-anniversary marque on the rear collar.

The jersey will not be made available for retail but fans will still have a chance to own the kit. The shirts will be auctioned off after the matches against Walsall and FC Spartak Trnava, with all proceeds going directly to the Aston Villa Foundation.

Guy Rippon, Head of Foundation & Community, said: “All proceeds will be invested into the Foundation’s disability activities, a vital part of our work, which sees nearly 100 players represent Aston Villa in regional pan-disability leagues.

“The proceeds will also support sporting activities run for day care centres, in addition to youth clubs for children and young people with special educational needs.”

Aston Villa need to sort their kit situation out soon

While the new Aston Villa one-off kits are nice, it is obvious that they have been released because the new kits are not ready.

For all the hype around the addidas deal, not having at least the home kit out by mid-July is slightly embarrassing for the club.

The Birmingham outfit needs to get this situation sorted as soon as possible, especially before Villa’s pre-season tour to the USA later this month.

Hopefully, by next week, the new home kit is out and fans can get the strip in preparation for the 2024/25 campaign.
