Aston Villa turn their attention to the Carabao Cup when they travel to League One outfit Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday night.
It’s been a fantastic start to the season for Aston Villa, who have won four games from five in the Premier League and secured a 3-0 victory over Young Boys in the Champions League.
Villa’s most recent league win came against Wolves as they returned a 1-0 deficit thanks to goals from Ollie Watkins, Ezri Konsa and Jhon Duran to win 3-1.
Unai Emery’s men hope to use their momentum garnered in 2024/25 to continue their fine run of form against Wycombe Wanderers, with several changes expected to be made to their starting XI.

Aston Villa team news ahead of Wycombe Wanderers
Emery may see a trip to League One opposition as a chance to rest many of his first-team stars, including Watkins, Konsa and Morgan Rogers.
The Spaniard also has a few injury concerns heading into this match as Aston Villa captain John McGinn is set to be out for multiple weeks with a hamstring injury sustained against Wolves.
McGinn could therefore miss Premier League clashes against Manchester United and Ipswich Town along with the Champions League tie at home to Bayern Munich.

The Scottish midfielder isn’t the only player nursing an injury. Matty Cash remains out of contention following a hamstring injury against Arsenal. However, the Poland international is targeting a return to training this week with his eyes set on the Bayern clash.
As for Boubacar Kamara and Tyrone Mings, the Villa duo continue to train every day as they build up their fitness ahead of a potential return to action next month.

Aston Villa predicted XI vs Wycombe Wanderers
Emi Martinez could get a rare rest against Wycombe as playing lower league opponents could see Australian shot-stopper Joe Gauci make his first start for Aston Villa.
Gauci could be joined by 18-year-old right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic, replacing Ezri Konsa while Diego Carlos, Pau Torres and Ian Maatsen could form the rest of the defence.
Youri Tielemans has played all but three minutes for Villa in the Premier League and Champions League, with this fixture an opportunity to give the Belgian a much-needed rest.
Ross Barkley – who starred from the bench against Wolves – could replace Tielemans in the heart of midfield alongside Amadou Onana.
Emery could change all but one player from the attack that beat Wolves with Leon Bailey returning to the starting XI on the right, Emi Buendia replacing Rogers in attacking midfield and Jacob Ramsey keeping his place on the left.
Duran could finally get the start he’s been craving after scoring four goals from the bench as he lines up ahead of Watkins against Wycombe.
Aston Villa (4-2-3-1): Gauci; Nedeljkovic, Carlos, Pau, Maatsen; Barkley, Onana; Bailey, Buendia, Ramsey; Duran.
