Aston Villa came from behind for the second weekend running at Villa Park to secure a 3-1 victory over midland rivals Wolves.

Unai Emery made one change to the starting XI that beat Everton last Saturday as Diego Carlos came in for Lamare Bogarde and Ezri Konsa moved to right back.

Emery would have been cursing his decision to start Carlos when he gifted Wolves the opening goal of the game, as he carelessly passed the ball to Matheus Cunha, who smashed his chance past Emi Martinez.

Wolves had a few chances to double their lead in the first half but Aston Villa held on and produced a stunning comeback in the second half.

The game turned on its head after Ross Barkley and Jhon Duran were introduced for Jacob Ramsey and Amadou Onana, with Villa scoring three times in the final 20 minutes.

Ollie Watkins got the hosts back on level terms before Konsa equalised and super sub-Duran put the game to bed however, it was another player who Tim Sherwood was left most impressed with.

Tim Sherwood was blown away by ‘magnificent’ Morgan Rogers vs Wolves

Rogers has been dubbed ‘unplayable’ on several occasions for Villa this term, including in the 3-0 win over Young Boys in the Champions League.

The 22-year-old continued to live up to that term against Wolves, particularly in the second half, as Rogers was at the forefront of a stunning comeback.

For their equalising goal, the Englishman picked up the ball in the pocket of space and slid through Watkins for his first assist of the season.

Rogers then grabbed his second assist of the afternoon when his left-footed cross was superbly weighted into the path of Duran, who slammed the ball home.

Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, Tim Sherwood waxed lyrical over the pass for Duran’s fourth goal of the season, lauding him as ‘magnificent’.

“He gets down the outside, Morgan Rogers, absolutely magnificent he’s been all afternoon,” Sherwood said.

“Ball gets played down the outside, and looks a simple pass but you seem them missed every single week in the Premier League. Just squares it across and he gives him [Jhon Duran] an easy tap-in from six yards. Absolutely magnificent from Rogers.”

Morgan Rogers brilliance vs Wolves

Although the £15 million signing is still waiting for his first goal this term, he will have been delighted to have laid on two assists for his teammates.

The main challenge for the young attacking midfielder was translating his stunning performances into goal involvements, doing so in this brilliant comeback at Villa Park.

Rogers can be pleased with his displays in a Villa shirt and now, he must uphold a high level of consistency with his contributions.
