Jaden Philogene-Bidace has been linked to a transfer to Hull City with a fee reportedly agreed. The deal has surprised Aston Villa fans who expected to see more of him this season.

Despite a successful pre season which generated a lot of buzz around him, Philogene-Bidace looks set to leave the club in search of first team football.

The winger played a big part of Aston Villa’s pre season friendlies, with great performances along the way.

Unai Emery has spoken in length about his thoughts about the youngster and clearly wants him around the club.

With all this being said, a £5 million bid from The Tigers, appears to have turned Philogne’s head.

Should Aston Villa sell Jaden Philogene-Bidace?

Most Villa fans would say no.

With European competition, the want to do well in both cups and high expectations in the league, a squad will be needed.

The issue comes with his position in the team.

Emery’s system is different to most with wingers playing more as a second striker, attacking midfielders play as wingers.

So where does Philogene-Bidace fit into this set up?

During pre season he played as one of the wide midfielders and showed great energy and a defensive-minded nature which appeared to make him ideal for Emery.

The Villa owners are looking to the future. Buying top players like Moussa Diaby and Nicolo Zaniolo needs to be supplemented with outgoings.

In terms of FFP, the sales of Aaron Ramsey and Philogene-Bidace, represent pure profit on a balance sheet which will go a way to solve any issues with finances.

With buy out clauses inserted into contracts, Villa ensure themselves financially and also have the opportunity to make the most of their talents down the line.

Selling makes sense, but he is a player the Villa faithful wanted to see this season and will be disappointed to see him leave so soon.
