With Jhon Duran likely to leave Aston Villa in the coming weeks, here are three potential replacements Unai Emery could look to sign to replace the Colombian.

The transfer window has shown no signs of slowing down for Villa. Emery has already seen multiple faces sign and depart Villa Park over the past month as he looks to shape his squad for their Champions League campaign.

One departure that now looks inevitable is Duran’s. The striker was the backup to Ollie Watkins for much of the 2023/24 campaign but impressed when he had his moments.

Throughout the summer, it did look likely that he would move to Chelsea. However, West Ham has now become the frontrunners for Duran with personal terms agreed.

With the Colombian likely to leave at some point this summer, Aston Villa News has listed three potential replacements Emery and Monchi could target.

In what could be an excellent move this summer, it has been reported that Tammy Abraham is available this window.

The striker, who had a very successful loan spell at Villa Park during their playoff-winning campaign, now makes his trade at Italian side Roma.

After scoring 27 goals in all competitions in his first season in the capital which saw him lift the Europa Conference League, injuries have halted his career.

It is believed that Abraham could be available for just £20 million this summer. Villa are reported to be in pole position for the Roma striker’s signature.

Pedro

A potential wildcard, Pedro has been playing for Brazilian side Flamengo since the turn of the decade.

The striker has been ruthless in his home nation and has now netted 129 times in 252 games. As a result, the club have lifted multiple trophies including the Copa Libertadores in 2021 and the Copa do Brazil in 2022.

Pedro’s form has also seen him selected for Brazil, earning his first cap in 2020.

While the striker did have an unsuccessful spell in Europe for Italian side Fiorentina between 2019 and 2020, he may be tempted to return to play in the Champions League with Villa.

Villa were linked with the 27-year-old earlier this year and it remains to be seen if they pursue him again if Duran leaves.

The final striker on this list is Lille’s Jonathan David. The Canadian has long been a formidable presence for the French side since signing for the club back in 2020.

During the 2023/24 campaign, he netted 26 goals in all competitions for the second season in a row. This also saw him come up against Villa in the Europa Conference League.

This summer, he has continued to perform in the Copa America with Canada now in the semi-finals of the prestigious competition.

Villa may be able to get Lille for cheaper than expected for a striker of his calibre this transfer window. Ligue 1 are yet to strike a deal for their TV rights which would see a significant drop in the club’s income.

With Villa previously linked to David earlier in the window, they may be tempted to go back in for him in the coming weeks.
