Aston Villa have completed the signing of Jaden Philogene with a shocking clause inserted into the former academy graduate’s contract.
Despite leaving Villa Park less than 12 months ago, Unai Emery has opted to bring Philogene back to Villa this summer.
The winger had a fantastic year at Hull City in the campaign. On top of winning the club’s Young Player of the Season Award, Philogene is also tipped to win the Puskas Award by Gary Lineker and Micah Richards thanks to a sensational goal in February.
As a result, Villa opted to activate their matching rights for the 22-year-old when Ipswich made a bid resulting in the winger signing for £18 million on a five-year deal.

Jaden Philogene has a massive release clause in his Aston Villa contract

Philogene has now become Villa’s sixth signing of the summer with Emery preparing the club for their upcoming Champions League campaign.
However, the signing of the 22-year-old shows that the Villa manager is not just looking at the Birmingham outfit’s short-term goals but also their long-term future.
On top of giving Philogene a five-year deal, it has been reported by Fabrizio Romano that the winger also has a release clause inserted into his contract.
While it is not known exactly how much this is worth, it is believed to be close to €100m.
Emery and Villa both believed that Philogene could have an important role in the upcoming campaign and beyond.
Jaden Philogene clearly has massive potential to become a top player in the Premier League

As every season passes, it is clear that Philogene is improving as a footballer. At Hull in the last campaign, he netted 12 times and picked up six assists in just 32 league games.
It was no surprise that both Everton and Ipswich were pursuing the winger but thankfully Philogene chose Villa.
With Emery’s team now set to play in multiple high-intense games in the upcoming season, the 22-year-old will no doubt have a part to play.
He could easily become one of the club’s best players in the coming years if he continues on the trajectory he is already on.
