Premier League giants keen on Aston Villa forward, talks underway

Aston Villa have been in top Premier League form, with an attack which looks deadly thanks in part to Ollie Watkins.

Ollie Watkins has played all eight games this season for Villa in the league, with one goal and two assists in this time.

A poor return given the chances he has had, but one that is undoubtedly going to change.

A partnership with Moussa Diaby has been really good for Unai Emery this season and has resulted in some top quality results.

But now it looks like one half of this duo could be the target of Premier League interest.

Watkins attracting interest

Watkins has been a player who for a while has been linked with a move away from Villa Park, and now it seems talks are in progress.

According to Football Transfers, Arsenal are engaged in discussions with Ollie Watkins’ agent over a possible move.

He is a player Mikel Arteta has previously praised in the media and the player is a fan of the Gunners.

A move in January is believed to be difficult but not impossible to complete, as he would command a fee that allows Villa to replace him.

Arsenal would have to offer him a contract which is in excess of £150,000 per week.

Watkins is believed to be the top option for the club to sign, as he is preferred to Ivan Toney.

So while talks are on, and a move is possible, Villa probably don’t want to even consider selling in January but a lot will probably depend on where they are in the table and Europe.
