Aston Villa look set to sign Kosta Nedeljkovic and he has now made a statement ahead of a potential move in the coming week.

It has certainly been a quiet transfer window for Aston Villa so far in January as they are yet to make any signings.

There appears to have been a change in tact in recent weeks as rumours regarding younger talents growing in popularity for Unai Emery’s side.

Just in the past few days, links to Morgan Rogers have arisen and now looks as if he has become a priority transfer.

This hasn’t stopped players be linked with a move away from the club as Jhon Duran departure rumours continue.

With that being said, there has still been a general lack of both incoming and outgoing from Villa Park this month.

Now it appears that one move is set to be completed as Kosta Nedeljkovic has made a statement before a potential move.

Kosta Nedeljkovic on Aston Villa move

Villa won’t benefit from signing the 18-year old until next season at the earliest, as he will be loaned back to Red Star. Given his age, he is certainly one for the future. Given that Villa are investing £7.8m in him, he has got to be highly right now.

Nedeljkovic has had his breakthrough campaign so far having made 16 appearances for Red Star including four in the Champions League.

As before mentioned, this appears to represent a change in tact for the Villa hierarchy and Monchi as they look at a different market.

Although no move has been confirmed by either club, Nedeljkovic has now made a statement to Mozzart Sport, transcribed by VillaReport.

The youngster said: “This kind of offer from Aston Villa is extremely impressive to me. I am very excited & it means a lot for my self-confidence.

“I hope that everything will go well in Birmingham at the signing of the contract, & then I will return to Serbia.”

This seems to all but confirm that the move is going to happen and that he is going to return to Red Star for the season.

It must be said that not many Villa fans are going to know much about Nedeljkovic given his tender age and league. Although that might be the case, given the price Villa are willing to pay, fans are excited as to how highly rated he is.

This statement suggests that the Villans have finally completed their first move of the window which has been a long time coming.
