Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Aston Villa’s chase for Joao Felix.
Dominating the Villa headlines in recent weeks has been the saga surrounding Joao Felix to Villa.
It has become clear that Unai Emery wants to see the Portuguese international come to the club, with the attacker being seen as a dream signing.
However, while the Birmingham outfit’s interest has been widely reported, nothing has yet progressed beyond this point.
Yet, there has been increased hope over the past few days as Atletico Madrid closes in on Man City’s Julian Alvarez for £82 million.
As a result, Romano has provided an update on how this transfer has affected Villa’s stance on Felix.

Joao Felix’s future still ‘undecided’ amid Aston Villa interest

Felix will no doubt cost a big sum if he is to leave the Spanish club this summer. It has been reported that Villa will have to pay around £50 million for the attacker.
However, it is believed that Villa will need to raise funds, with Jhon Duran potentially moving to West Ham.
According to Romano, with less than a month to go in the transfer window, the future of Felix is still uncertain.
He said: “For Joao Felix, keep your eyes on Aston Villa, the position of Aston Villa is still there. Unai Emery, Aston Villa Manager, really loves Joao Felix but it is still not clear where Joao Felix will go.
“It is still not decided, it is still not something they will decide now but it is not part of the story with Julian Alvarez.”
Aston Villa cannot be dragged into a transfer saga for Joao Felix

The Felix to Villa saga has now dragged on for weeks with no sign of coming to an end soon.
There is already a debate on if Villa really need Felix with Ollie Watkins already the main attacker for Emery.
It is also unclear if the Portuguese international is keen on joining the club, with his future still ‘unclear’.
With the new campaign now less than two weeks away, Villa should seek a quick resolution or move onto other targets to avoid the saga dragging into the closing days of the window.
