Enzo Barrenechea is on the verge of joining Valencia on a season-long loan but Aston Villa supporters won’t be happy with one particular agreement in the deal.

Aston Villa’s transfer deadline day has been dominated by exits from the club so far, as Unai Emery can’t afford to bring anyone else in unless a player or two leaves.

Leander Dendoncker is in advanced talks to join Anderlecht on loan while centre-back Diego Carlos could leave Villa Park before the deadline, which would allow Emery to pursue a deal for Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah.

Dendoncker and Carlos aren’t the only two players poised to exit Birmingham on Friday as midfielder Enzo Barrenechea closes in on a loan to Valencia.

The 23-year-old was only signed from Juventus this summer in a separate double deal with Samuel Iling-Junior that saw Douglas Luiz go in the other direction.

Iling-Junior has since joined Bologna on a season-long loan, with Barrenechea on the verge of departing too.

Concerning detail emerges in Enzo Barrenechea’s move to Valencia

Many Villa fans weren’t happy with the deal that saw Luiz exit the club. The Brazilian was an important figure under Emery and he departed for around £40 million.

In agreeing to that transfer, the Spaniard captured Iling-Junior and Barrenechea for a combined £18m, and fans were justifiably angry with that agreement.

Of course, Villa were quickly looking to sell Luiz to avoid breaching Premier League spending rules however, they have been fleeced by Juventus.

That is because, Barrenechea – who only arrived at the club this summer – is joining Valencia on loan but they have an option to purchase the Argentine next summer, as per journalist Cesar Luis Merlo.

For the 23-year-old, a loan is exactly what he needs for his development and playing in La Liga will benefit him massively.

However, supporters won’t be happy that one of the players who arrived in place of Luiz could exit the club permanently this summer.

Aston Villa’s current biggest problems

Frustratingly, Villa can’t improve their squad on deadline day unless they successfully sell some players, by which point, they may have run out of time to get anyone in.

Emery’s biggest problem lies in defence, where he only has four fit senior defenders, including Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres, Tyrone Mings and Carlos, who could leave before the 11 pm deadline.

The Villans also only have one fit right back at the club and that is Kosta Nedeljkovic, the 18-year-old who replaced Matty Cash against Arsenal.

Defensively, Emery could be in crisis if he fails to sign at least one player today, as it only takes one injury to significantly hamper his squad.

A promising start to the window, which saw seven players arrive, is slowly turning into a damp squib and Monchi is powerless to prevent that.
