Aston Villa starlet, Jacob Ramsey could be let go either in the January transfer window or the summer should the right offer come in.

It has been a very quiet transfer window for Aston Villa which has seen just one incoming transfer, at the time of writing.

There have been plenty of different players that Unai Emery is interested in signing but nothing has come up yet.

So far the only signing has been Kosta Nedeljkovic who has come in and since been loaned back to Red Star Belgrade.

There have been links to signing Championship starlets like Morgan Rogers and Jonathan Rowe in recent weeks.

It appears that the Villans are under the constraints of FFP as they don’t appear to be making any big money moves.

Now there is a discussion revolving around an outgoing transfer which has taken Villa fans by surprise this week.

Jacob Ramsey linked with January exit

There has been a huge conversation regarding FFP in the Premier League. This has seen Everton suffer a point deduction and a general lack of spending in the league.

This has seen Villa make just one signing who is someone who will repay his value over many years given his age. As a result of this, the club might be inclined to make a big sale in order to balance the books.

Now in a report by David Ornstein for The Athletic, they have suggested Villa might consider letting Jacob Ramsey go.

On that, he said: “A player generating concrete interest is Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey, with the England Under-21 international catching the attention of numerous clubs in both England and abroad. Newcastle United have made an approach for the 22-year-old.

“Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich are also among the sides to have made their admiration for Ramsey clear.”

It is clear that should the Villans wish to sell Ramsey, there would be plenty of suitors willing to spend on him. This would almost certainly help Villa be able to make some more elite signings with FFP in mind.

Continuing on, Ornstein added: “That is a big ‘if’ because Ramsey has established himself as a key player and ideally this would not be a consideration.

“Funds must be raised before the end of June to stay compliant with profit and sustainability rules and that has alerted suitors, who believe offers above £50m will at least be contemplated. Should Villa decide to keep Ramsey, there are other ways in which the money could be found.”

It would be a disappointing departure but if Villa need to balance the books then selling Ramsey could be necessary.
