Aston Villa look to be moving swiftly in the transfer window as they are now targeting Florian Neuhaus as a replacement for the outgoing Leander Dendoncker.

This week has been the most exciting week of the transfer window for Aston Villa as they have seemingly come alive.

It started with the announcement of Kosta Nedeljkovic who signed from Red Star Belgrade and was subsequently loaned back.

Then this was followed with links to Morgan Rogers which have refused to go away. These have been paired with rumours of signing Hakon Valdimarsson.

Now there have been some discussions regarding a loan move away from the club for Leander Dendoncker. This sees him set to join Napoli on loan for the rest of the season, leading to a permanent move in the summer.

With him seemingly on the way out of Villa Park, Unai Emery will have to move quickly to bring in a replacement. It seems as if they are doing just that.

Villa in for Florian Neuhaus on loan

It must be said that Dendoncker is more of a like-for-like replacement for Boubacar Kamara. Although this is the case, the suggested option isn’t likened to either.

The rumours coming from Bild this week suggest that Villa are on of many sides that are interested in signing Florian Neuhaus.

On that, they said: “Selling Neuhaus is not an issue with Gladbach because his contract has just been extended by four years without an exit clause. But probably a loan.

“So far there have been loose inquiries from Lazio Rome and Sevilla FC, but the lead to England is more concrete: West Ham United and Aston Villa want to play with Neuhaus for the Champions League places.”

There is clearly a lot of competition for the German’s signature which may make it difficult for Emery and Co. to navigate.

Villa can offer a chance at a potential trophy as they are still competing in the FA Cup and Conference League. Although West Ham can offer European football at a higher level for the current campaign.

Looking at his WhoScored profile, there are various positive elements to his game. These include his ability to play through balls, both long and short, and making blocks.

He is seemingly not very good at making tackles, winning aerial duels or finishing. Although the latter may not be that important, the other two could cause issues. This will be particularly evident if he plays in place of Kamara at the base of midfield.

He profiles more similarly to Douglas Luiz but he is seemingly a Dendoncker replacement. This is a confusing rumour but in Emery and Monchi Villa fans trust.
