Aston Villa manager, Unai Emery has spoken out about Jacob Ramsey following rumours of a potential sale in the January transfer window.

The transfer window is heading towards its deadline and Aston Villa are still yet to make a dent on the market.

There have been many reports that have linked players to potentially signing for Unai Emery and a move to Villa Park.

So far the only move that has gone through so far is the youngster Kosta Nedeljkovic who has since gone back out on loan.

Links have suggested that the Villans are showing a concrete interest in signing Morgan Rogers from Middlesbrough.

There have been many additional rumours of departures out of B6 this month. Leander Dendoncker has already departed on loan while Finn Azaz has moved on a permanent deal.

Now reports of Jacob Ramsey potentially leaving the club have been debunked by Emery ahead of the Newcastle clash.

Emery dismisses Jacob Ramsey rumours

This week has seen a report by David Ornstein for The Athletic suggests Villa might consider letting Ramsey go.

Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich are among the sides who have shown an interest in the Englishman.

On the potential sale of the Villa star, Ornstein said: “Suitors believe offers above £50m will at least be contemplated.”

This certainly sparked a conversation on social media amongst Villa fans who discussed whether or not this would be a good move. Reports are suggesting that the Villans need to sort out some potential FFP issues. As a result, a sale could make sense given he is an academy prospect.

Now speaking to Matt Maher, transcribed by Villa Report, Emery has opened up about Ramsey and a potential move.

On that, he said: “I am not thinking about letting him leave, even in the case some teams are offering us a lot. Right now I don’t want that. I completely don’t want that. I want to work with him and try and help him increase his level because I am selfish and I want him at his best for me.

“We can both benefit from that. His future now is with Aston Villa. In all my conversations with him, his commitment to Aston Villa is clear.”

This would certainly point towards Ramsey staying with the club for a prolonged period, to the summer at least.

The Villa fan youngster is an academy prospect who nobody would want to sell. With FFP existing how it does a move for him could make sense but clearly won’t be the first choice option to raise funds.
