Aston Villa are one of multiple Premier League sides said to be interested in Exequiel Palacios with a bid potentially coming in January.
So far this season, Aston Villa have mainly been linked to signing attacking options in January but today brings a different rumour.
Despite the strength of the midfield, Unai Emery is seemingly looking to further bolster the midfield.
With Douglas Luiz, Boubacar Kamara, Youri Tielemans and Leander Dendoncker, Villa are pretty stacked at the base of midfield.
In spite of this, Villa have still been linked to a new signing.
Who is Exequiel Palacios?
According to reports from TEAMtalk, Villa are showing an interest in Argentine, Palacios from Leverkusen.
The midfielder began his career with River Plate, making his debut in November 2015 and was highly rated in his spell.
After 48 appearances and four goals for Los Millonarios, European clubs come knocking.
He signed for Bayer 04 in late 2019 and has gone on to become a key figure for the Bundesliga side.
Under new manager, Xabi Alonso Palacios has gone from strength to strength and is now being linked with a move.

Should Aston Villa sign him?
This is a signing that doesn’t seem to make much sense from the outside looking in.
With the strength in depth that Villa currently has in the midfield positions, do they really need another player there?
There have been rumours suggesting that Dendoncker could be leaving the club, but Palacios wouldn’t be a direct replacement.
With European competition, the Villains will want to have the best possible options. The Argentine won’t want to play second fiddle, however.
Against AZ Alkmaar, Tielemans was on top form and is looking to push for a first-team role. They aren’t the same type of player but he shows how difficult it is to get into this team.
He would definitely be a great signing, just not what Villa need right now.
