Aston Villa have joined a list of Premier League teams that are interested in signing Joshua Zirkzee in the January window.
It has been a quiet January transfer window as a general rule for Aston Villa who have so far only made one signing.
At the time of writing, the Villans have only signed Kosta Nedeljkovic. He has subsequently been loaned back to Red Star Belgrade.
It is strange that the only signing of the window has been a defender. This is considering an attacker seemed to be a priority.
With that, there have been strong links to Morgan Rogers in the past week who is a versatile forward option. There have been additional links to Emile Smith Rowe who is an attacking midfield suggestion.
There are rumours linking Jhon Duran away from the club. Signing a striker to give competition to Ollie Watkins may be necessary. Now the Villans have been linked to exactly that.

Aston Villa interested in Joshua Zirkzee
There is no doubt that Villa could do with an extra striker option to bolster their attack moving into the latter stages of the season.
In a world where someone like Watkins gets injured, Emery could be caught cold. This will be detrimental and he will be handed an issue he can’t recover from.
As a result of this, a report from the Express that has now been revealed will certainly excite the Villa faithful.
On that, they said: “Arsenal and Aston Villa have also been credited with holding an interest in Zirkzee. With both clubs expected to splash the cash over the summer on a top-quality striker who can spearhead their respective attacks for many years to come.
“Whereas Villa may push for Zirkzee to compete with Ollie Watkins. This for the striker spot in Unai Emery’s system whilst nurturing his development closely to ensure that he excels in the long-term.”
It is clear to see that there is going to be great competition for his signature. With Arsenal being able to offer Champions League football, he may be tempted in by that.
Villa can offer more minutes potentially and that may sway him in their direction. With FA Cup and Europa Conference League commitments, there will be plenty of games.
It has been said by VI that: “Follower of foreign football Süleyman Öztürk saw the Dutch striker at work. ‘He is better than Erling Haaland in almost everything, only the monster in him is missing.'”
With praise as high as that coming in, it does feel like he could be a great signing. If the quality of sides interested in him is anything to go by then, Villa should do it.
