With reports of Aston Villa being willing to let Lucas Digne go, they have now been linked to signing Leonardo Spinazzola but Arsenal are also interested.
There has been no lack of reports linking Aston Villa with new players and letting others go in the January window.
So far this season, Unai Emery has made a general lack of changes to his starting XI such is the lack of squad depth.
One position where the Villans have been very light this campaign is right back. With Matty Cash being the only out-and-out right back at the club, there have been rumours of Jeremie Frimpong.
With that being said, on the opposite flank there is plenty of cover with Lucas Digne and Alex Moreno operating there.
That hasn’t stopped a new player in that position from being linked to the Villans with a possible January move likely.

Leonardo Spinazzola option to replace Lucas Digne
It has been no secret that Aston Villa would consider letting Lucas Digne go either in January or even in the summer.
This is due to his sizable £120k-a-week wages which the Villa hierarchy are keen to get off of the wage books for financial reasons. This would help with financial fair play responsibilities for the coming season.
This has seen rumours linking the Villans to Marcos Acuna from Sevilla in recent weeks but now a new prospect has arisen. This has been reported by LaRoma24 who have suggested Leanardo Spinazzola is of interest.
On that, they said: “In recent days we had talked about interests that had moved from the Premier League for Leonardo Spinazzola, who will end his experience at Roma in June as agent Davide Lippi also confessed, practically eliminating the possibility of a contract renewal.
“The teams that have shown interest in the Roma winger born in 1993 are Arsenal and Aston Villa.”
This would see Villa be able to sign Spinazzola on a free transfer in the summer and as a result, Digne could see a summer move be more likely.
The 30-year old is potentially most recognisable to English football fans for his part in the Euro 2020 triumph for Italy over England. Not a thing many fans would like to remember and cast their minds back to.
It must be said that with Arsenal interested, it could be difficult to convince Spinazzola to move to B6 instead of London.
This deal would make sense from a financial and footballing perspective but the competition could be too much.
