Aston Villa are amidst an injury crisis after multiple stars picked up knocks on international duty.
The international break has been devastating for Villa. Going into the two-week stoppage, Unai Emery’s side were on the back of four successive defeats in all competitions.
Therefore, this period was seen as a great time to reassess and potentially fix any alarming issues.
However, just a week into this period, things have only gotten harder for the Villa manager.
On top of their current injuries, Ian Maatsen was forced to withdraw from the Dutch Under 21s as well as Pau Torres who left the Spanish squad earlier this week.
To make matters worse Amadou Onana has now picked up an injury with Belgium.
One player who also suffered a knock earlier this week was Ezri Konsa with an important injury update on the centre-back now emerging.
Ezri Konsa sent home after picking up an injury in England vs Greece

Konsa is now a regular for the Three Lions after a successful 2024. In their recent Nations League victory over Greece, the centre-back started the game.
However, Konsa was seen limping in the England game before being subbed off striking fears that the Claret and Blue side had another injury on their hands.
Lee Carlsey confirmed that Konsa has since had a scan but little has been heard since until today.
Beforehand, the Birmingham Mail reported that the centre-back was training alone ahead of their clash against the Republic of Ireland.
Now, Carlsey has confirmed that Konsa has been sent home and will continue his recovery with Villa.
Aston Villa cannot afford to pick up any more injuries

This international break has hit Villa massively. Not only are they going to be without multiple star players when they are out of form, but the club is also entering the busiest football period of the season.
With another set of international fixtures still to be played, Villa simply couldn’t afford any more injuries.
Now that Konsa has returned to Villa, Emery must ensure that the centre-back is not rushed back to the pitch or he could worsen the issue.
Hopefully, the coming week doesn’t see anymore of Villa’s stars fall to the sidelines.
