Aston Villa stars Ollie Watkins, Ezri Konsa and Morgan Rogers were in Nations League action for England against Greece on Thursday night.

Three Aston Villa players were selected to represent England during the November international break. Ollie Watkins and Ezri Konsa are regulars for the Three Lions while Morgan Rogers earned his first call-up.

Lee Carsley’s men faced off against Greece needing to win to give them every chance of winning promotion to Group A of the Nations League.

The visitors got off to the best start as Watkins opened the scoring, perhaps showing Carsley why he deserves to start over Harry Kane up front.

Villa fans were pleased to see their talisman finally get the recognition he deserves and to see Rogers feature from the bench but it was a bittersweet night for the supporters after what happened with Konsa.

Aston Villa fans express fear after Ezri Konsa limps off for England

Konsa put in a flawless first-half performance against Greece, winning both of his ground duels and completing each of his 47 passes (100%), as per Sofascore.

The 27-year-old has been instrumental for both club and country, truly transforming into a top-quality defender for Unai Emery.

On Thursday night, amid Villa’s current injury crisis, supporters around the globe expressed their fear after watching Konsa limp off and holding his thigh as the players exited the pitch at half-time.

Expressing their concerns over what they saw, one fan said: “He looked in pain the end of the half and struggled to pass the ball with out having to hold his hip after.”

“Hope Ezri is ok and that was a tactical sub,” another said.

“Holding his thighs as he went off,” a third replied.

“Was limping and didn’t look great just before half time,” a fifth added.

“Holding his hamstring no?,” another commented.

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa injury crisis

Emery and everyone involved will be hoping that Konsa, arguably Villa’s most important defender, hasn’t suffered a serious injury and was just taken off as a precaution.

Currently, the Villans have suffered somewhat of an injury crisis at the start of this international break. Ian Maatsen has already been sent home from Netherlands under-21 duty while Pau Torres left Spain’s camp with a muscular injury.

Boubacar Kamara and Jacob Ramsey both suffered hamstring injuries during the game against Liverpool, although they should return alongside Ross Barkley and Matty Cash after the break.

It’s been a difficult period for Villa, who are winless in five matches in all competitions, and they can ill-afford for Konsa to have a serious injury.
