Former Aston Villa captain, Micah Richards has opened up about John McGinn and has praised him for one strange attribute. Villa fans will know exactly what he means…
It has been a great season for Aston Villa with many standout performers helping propel the club to third in the Premier League.
Under the tutelage of Unai Emery, the Villans have gone from strength to strength. They are now one of the better sides in the league.
Following wins over Manchester City and Arsenal, Villa are one of the form sides and have received plenty of praise.

This has its benefits but also comes with downsides. As an example, Douglas Luiz has been linked with moves away for many months, such has been his form.
There is one man who has been on top of his game for years and is finally seeing some praise.
What has Micah Richards said about John McGinn?
Since signing from Hibernian for £2m, John McGinn has been one of the most important players in B6 for many a season. From the play-off final winner to his goal vs Arsenal, the Scotsman has seen it all in his time in claret and blue.
Nowadays he is Villa captain and finds himself at the fore in the Europa Conference League and in a title race. Even if he has ‘banned the T-word‘ from the club.
It is safe to say that Super John Mcginn is one of the fan favourite stars at Villa Park. It has also been made clear that he is highly rated by his teammates. Speaking on The Rest Is Football Podcast, Micah Richards has opened up on that.
He said: “What a player he is! McGinn did all the hard work but had a great left foot. Super strong. People don’t understand how strong he is.
“When he burst through and you try and get the ball off him, he gets his big a**e in there. He’s got a great stance where he says get off me. Great acceleration, the right passing.”
McGinn sticking out his “back” and rolling past players is a characteristic and piece of skill that all Villa fans will be accustomed to. This sees him often leave opponents in the dust as he speeds forward towards the opposition’s goal.
He has been a great signing and to hear praise coming from former teammates like it has is always great to see.
