Following his first Premier League start for Aston Villa, it has been reported that Youri Tielemans is happier than he had been earlier in the season.

In the summer, Youri Tielemans signed for Aston Villa on a free transfer from Leicester City following their relegation.

As with many new signings in B6 in recent times, it can be difficult for them to adapt to the Unai Emery demands that are set.

Other than in the Europa Conference League and Carabao Cup, the Belgian hadn’t featured from the start in the Premier League.

After two impressive performances against AZ Alkmaar, the Belgian was given his first league start against Fulham. After which he was labelled ‘undroppable‘ by Ian Wright.

Early on in the season, there had been some sticky moments with him making some complaints on international duty. Now he seems more than happy with his role.

What has Neil Moxley said about Youri Tielemans?

After coming into the starting XI at Villa Park last time out, many fans were left surprised to see him included. With that being said, the surprise turned to praise for Tielemans as he performed to the best of his abilities.

He ranked as the second-best Villa player on the pitch according to SofaScore as he was given a 7.3 rating.

Discussing the Belgian with Give Me Sport, Neil Moxley has suggested that the Belgian international is loving life in B6 nowadays.

On that, he said: “Tielemans now looks a lot happier. He had played earlier on in the season against Everton in a Carabao Cup game and looked like a fish up a tree. It wasn’t as if he wasn’t trying, but everything he did try, just didn’t come off. And it was difficult not to feel a little bit sorry for him.”

It is safe to say that the midfielder didn’t have the greatest start to life at Villa Park. Some very lacklustre performances saw him on the side of some negative opinions on social media.

Following the performance in the most recent game the positive press came out as he played very well. Alongside John McGinn in the Villa midfield, they dominated up against Joao Palinha and Alex Iwobi.

On what the future holds, Moxley added: “If Aston Villa can utilise Tielemans to his best advantage, which is basically his use of the ball, and his experience now.

“I mean, you don’t get to play centre midfield for the number one FIFA-ranked side on the planet, which is Belgium if you can’t do a bit, and Tielemans can.”

Considering the pedigree he has and the fact Villa got him for free, he has every chance of being an excellent signing.
