Ian Wright has opened up about the quality Youri Tielemans possesses following his first Premier League start vs Fulham.

Following signing for Aston Villa on a free transfer from Leicester City over the summer, Youri Tielemans hadn’t started a Premier League game.

So far this season, Unai Emery had only made eight changes to his league-starting XIs and the Belgian was the latest to come in.

He was superb against Fulham and proved to the Spaniard that he deserves to be starting games more often.

With that being said, his manager felt like the midfielder had found it ‘difficult‘ to adapt to the new system.

Now he must have impressed the boss and can move forward at a high level.

What has Ian Wright said about Youri Tielemans?

Speaking on Match of the Day, the former Arsenal striker had clearly enjoyed the Belgian’s performance against the Cottagers.

With his first full 90 for Villa completed this weekend, fans are looking forward to seeing even more from the midfielder.

After finally adapting to the setup in B6, he appears to be back to his best. This was felt by Wright: “Tielemans as well, look at him there, he looks fit, and we know the quality he has got.

“One of the things I didn’t realise was his closing down, I didn’t know he had so much about him. He was closing them down on the left-hand side and then McGinn on the right.”

With two more centrally-minded midfielders on the left and right flank, Emery’s box midfield was in full flow at the weekend.

Continuing on, Wright added: “I’m seeing a lot in the way he is playing which I didn’t see at Leicester. He looks fit, he looks strong. It is going to be very hard to keep someone like him out of the team.”

It was felt by fans that once he had got into the starting XI fold it would be hard to displace him.

With the form he showed against Fulham this weekend, Tielemans has finally found his home at Villa Park at long last.
