Emery ‘ready’ to let Aston Villa player leave after just 41 minutes this season

Aston Villa attacker, Bertrand Traore has been told he can leave the club as his contract is set to expire in the summer.

With the Burkina Faso international one of the only Aston Villa stars to be out of contract in the summer, he is being spoken about.

Although Unai Emery recalled him from his loan in January last year, he has featured minimally so far this campaign.

With Moussa Diaby, Leon Bailey, Nicolo Zaniolo and even Jhon Duran, there isn’t much room for Traore in the squad.

With that being said, Football Insider has said he is set to leave B6.

What can Bertrand Traore offer?

At the time of writing, the forward has featured in just 41 minutes of action so far this season. This is in spite of an EFL Cup game and multiple Conference League games.

He made his first appearance in weeks against Luton Town but played mere minutes and didn’t impress very much.

It must be said that against Zrinski Mostar he did have a positive effect. Coming on with just eight minutes to go and creating a point of difference.

With him wanting to cut inside and Matty Cash wanting to overlap, it made it a nightmare for the Bosnian outfit.

Although he hasn’t directly contributed to a goal, in that game he definitely had an impact.

Last season against Leicester City and Nottingham Forest he was the difference. Wins that quite literally saw Villa get Europe.

Should Aston Villa let him go?

Safe to say that he does have ability, Villa just don’t suit him right now.

With Emery’s 4-4-2 system, there isn’t a role where Traore can find himself and play his natural game.

He isn’t defensively responsible enough to play on the right of midfield. Neither is he quick and selfless enough to play as a second striker.

It could be said that as a number nine, he could flourish. With Duran struggling for game time already and Watkins on fire, that isn’t a realistic goal.

At the end of the day, he will leave in January or in the summer and all Villa fans will wish him well.
