What has Jack Hendry said about John McGinn?

In 60 appearances for the Tartan Army, the Villa captain has 17 goals for his country and has become a star.

Speaking on the BBC Scottish Football Podcast, Al-Ettifaq defender, Jack Hendry has opened up about the midfielder.

Under the management of former Villa gaffer, Steven Gerrard, Hendry has found himself in the Saudi Pro League and has been called up to the national set-up.

When discussing Steve Clarke’s squad, Hendry said: “From everyone [in the Scotland camp] the stand out would be John.

“He’s a breath of fresh air. Obviously coming away and spending some time with him because he does really lift everyone’s spirits and I think you can just see that on the pitch.”

Villa fans already know everything about what the midfielder adds both on and off the pitch. From a goal against Fulham to his heartwarming celebration, he is a great player and role model.

He was given the captaincy of the Villans by Gerrard at the beginning of last season, just going to show what he adds.

On that point, Hendry added: “Obviously he’s the captain at Aston Villa so I think you can imagine how important his to this squad and how important he is to Aston Villa, so he’s a great person to be around.”

This is the kind of thing that will delight Villa fans to hear as their captain is impressing on the international stage. Also making a great impression on his teammates internationally and at club level will please supporters.
