Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran is reportedly causing problems behind the scenes for Unai Emery with the striker being labelled a ‘handful’.
Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran has been nothing more than a bit-part squad player for Unai Emery this season so far.
This has happened despite his scoring record of four goals in 12 games this far, which has him sixth in the club’s standings. In Villa’s incredible season so far, Duran has struggled.
Duran missed Villa’s game against West Ham last month, with rumours swirling there could be a reason pointing toward issues in the squad. But Emery later confirmed Duran was absent through injury.
But now new rumours are swirling regarding the Colombian’s happiness at the club.

A handful for Villa
According to a report from Football Insider, Duran is causing issues for Emery and his coaching staff due to his attitude which makes him a ‘handful’.
The report then continued to explain: “Duran‘s attitude has been questioned by the manager on multiple occasions at the club’s Bodymoor Heath training ground, and he has been told to make major improvements to fit in with the Spaniard’s no-nonsense demands.”
Duran hasn’t featured in the Premier League since September 30th. Emery is known to be a tough manager and he clearly doesn’t think Duran is living up to expectations.
How much is Duran worth?
As per the CIES value tool, Duran currently has a market value of £13 million and if Villa were to sell him he would cost around that amount.
Rumours of discontent at the club wouldn’t help in furthering his value, instead damaging his value.
Duran’s £30k-a-week contract expires at the end of this season which also doesn’t help, however when clubs abroad can approach him for free in January, it seems unlikely Villa will be able to ask for any kind of significant fee.
