Aston Villa manager, Unai Emery has confirmed that Jhon Duran missed the West Ham United game due to injury and no other reason.
Following the Colombian’s absence from the Aston Villa squad fans were confused as there was no prior reason for this.
When checking social media after the game, fans noticed that Duran had removed anything to do with the Villains on there.
This was doubly strange as he is typically very outgoing about the club, especially on his Instagram page.
Many fans were concerned by this, but Unai Emery confirmed there were no issues.
What has Unai Emery said about Jhon Duran?
Duran has featured in the matchday squad in all but two games, while having yet to start a Premier League game.
He didn’t feature against the Hammers and John Townley asked the Villa boss for the reasoning.
Discussing that, Emery said: “The only truth is he was not available to play on Sunday because he was injured.”
Fans were rather concerned when Duran removed all Villa-based material from his social media. This included changing his bio and removing all pictures.
On that, Emery added: “I’m not here to control social media for each player. I asked him about it and he told me it’s not relevant.”
The Colombian has had a good start to the season and it would be a shame to lose his talent.

Could he leave?
If you take the Villa manager’s words as gospel then it doesn’t appear that Duran has any chance of departing.
With that being said it is strange that he would use social media in the way that he has. Typically players only do such a thing when they are unhappy.
This could point towards a January move away from the man signed less than a year ago.
Emery has always been complimentary of the striker signed from Chicago Fire and won’t want to lose him.
Villa are in the market for a forward in January so a loan away for Duran and an incoming striker could be an option.
Whatever the scenario, hopefully, Duran can work out his differences and come back firing.
