An incredible stat has emerged that emphasises just how excellent a job Unai Emery has done at Aston Villa this season so far.

Aston Villa made it five wins in the last six games against Fulham on Sunday, with a 3-1 win moving the Villians within three points of the table toppers.

John McGinn scored on the weekend in an excellent display, while Ollie Watkins also added to his tally. The opener did come through an Antonee Robinson own-goal however.

Villa weren’t at their very best against the Cottagers but the sign of a good side is still managing to win when not on top form. That is exactly what Villa have done.

The win continued an impressive stat which is 13 straight home victories at Villa Park, in the wake of the win an even more encouraging stat has emerged.

Impressive stat in the last eight games

After the win, Amazon Prime Video Sport revealed some incredible numbers behind Villa’s recent run of form.

The numbers tell the whole story, with 19 points picked up in the last eight games, no side has picked up more.

We knew Emery was doing a great job but this just further demonstrates just how excellent he has been in turning Villa from lowly midtable contenders or worse under Steven Gerrard into potential Champions League qualifiers.

Not to mention Villa are currently top in their Europa Conference League group and look well placed to be among the favourites to win it.

Can Villa really qualify for the Champions League?

If you told a Villa fan this time last year that the side would be three points off top in November, you’d have been met with laughs.

The improvements brought on by Emery have been quite remarkable and so drastic that it’s easy to forget that Champions League qualification probably wasn’t on the agenda for this season.

With Chelsea and Manchester United now picking up points, it will be a tremendously close race in order to secure football on Europe’s grandest stage.

But given how excellent we have been, it’s unlikely that this is just form but rather the level the Villians are now at. There’s no reason as to why it can’t be achieved.
