Morgan Rogers hails Aston Villa ‘game-changer’ after comeback win against Wolves

Another home game and another comeback win from Aston Villa after they picked up three points against Wolves on Saturday.

Last week, Jhon Duran-inspired Aston Villa were piling more misery on Everton and now they have claimed the bragging rights over their Midland rivals.

On the one hand, it’s a great habit to have because Unai Emery is watching his team pick up maximum points without playing well.

But, on the other, Aston Villa need to get their act together as quickly as possible, especially from a defensive aspect, or else, a far better team will take them apart.

There is a reason why Diego Carlos doesn’t start regularly for Villa and he proved that when he gifted Matheus Cunha for the opening goal.

It was a shambolic opening hour from Villa, but the half-time changes and the second-half substitutions pulled the tide towards the home team and the spark was lit.

Ollie Watkins started the comeback, with Ezri Konsa scoring again against Wolves, before Duran scored yet again from the bench.

Morgan Rogers nabbed himself two assists as he finally rewarded his performances this season with some much-needed numbers.

But the man who was the unsung hero for Villa was Ross Barkley, who just like against Everton, controlled and ran the game after coming on.

Rogers acknowledged that and he called him the ‘game-changer’ in the comments section of Barkley’s Instagram post.

Ross Barkley helps Aston Villa beat Wolves

‘Another comeback victory, enjoyable! +3,’ wrote Barkley.

Ross Barkley to replace the injured John McGinn

Villa have lost McGinn to a hamstring issue and that has now opened the door for Barkley to start the big games in these coming weeks.

The big one is against Bayern Munich and it seems as though McGinn won’t be ready for that one, but the team has the bench strength.

Even with the Villa captain fit and firing, Emery needs to find a way to get Barkley into his team because he isn’t putting a foot wrong.

An unsung hero in that midfield and he is making Villa not miss Douglas Luiz after his summer transfer to Juventus.
