Aston Villa begin their Champions League adventure on Tuesday when they face off against Young Boys in Switzerland.
But the one Aston Villa fans are looking forward to most is their first Champions League home game against Bayern Munich and facing a certain Harry Kane.
The England captain is familiar with Villa Park and he has a very solid record against the Midlands side, scoring eight and supplying two assists in the colours of Tottenham.
Kane has also come up against Ezri Konsa on many occasions in the Premier League, as well as in England training, but their Champions League meeting is going to be that bit special.
Konsa recently featured for Lee Carsley’s England – starting the win over Finland – and it seems as though the Villa and Bayern game was a hot topic with his international captain in training.
The game itself is scheduled for October 2, one week before the next international break, so you would suspect they will be talking about the aftermath of that game when they link up again.
Ollie Watkins pulled out of England duty recently, but he will be back next month, as well as Morgan Rogers possibly earning a maiden call.
But, Konsa shared how Kane is fully aware of the ‘great atmosphere’ that is facing his Bayern Munich side, as he told The Times.
Unai Emery has done an incredible job at Villa, with this journey of returning to the Champions League starting back when they were in the Championship and when co-owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens first joined the club.
The man in Villa’s dugout has taken it to serious heights, with that blockbuster game against Bayern being the highlight, as Konsa discussed.
Harry Kane facing Aston Villa
“We spoke in training and I asked him if he was ready for the game at Villa Park,” said Konsa about his England teammate.
“He knows it will be a great atmosphere and I’m really looking forward to that game. He’s a world-class striker, we know what he can do and [we know] his goalscoring record, so I have to be ready and I will be ready.”

Aston Villa’s form
Look, regardless of what happens from now until the Bayern game, the team and the fans are going to be well up for that match.
But it would help greatly if they went in with momentum, as Villa’s stunning comeback win over Everton at the weekend certainly helps matters.

There are a lot of games to be played from now until Bayern – starting with Young Boys, a Midlands derby against Wolves, the League Cup, away at Ipswich and then the big one.
What also helps is the competition within the team, Jhon Duran is flying for Villa and now Watkins is back on the scoresheet. The perfect headache for Emery to have!
