Youri Tielemans is one of the first names on the Aston Villa teamsheet.
It wasn’t so long ago that the Belgium international suffered relegation with Leicester City and he was at the lowest point in his career.
Then Aston Villa snapped up Tielemans on a free transfer last summer and he has gone from strength to strength since.
Unai Emery has taken Tielemans’ game to the next level, and despite a slow start when he first arrived, he is now a key member of the midfield.
That free transfer is looking better and better with every passing game, especially in today’s game when teams are splashing £100 million plus on midfielders.
This season alone, it could be argued that Tielemans has been Villa’s best player and he is showing that he belongs at the Champions League level.
But the road for the 27-year-old has gone down, despite being seen as a wonder kid coming up, hasn’t been easy.
Youri Tielemans says ‘never say no’ to move up amid Aston Villa form
Tielemans came through the ranks at Anderlecht and there was a lot of noise around him when he was coming through as a teenager.
Many thought from the get-go he would be playing at the elite level, but he has only played 23 matches at the Champions League level.
Now at Aston Villa, this is perhaps the highest level and biggest club the midfield technician has played for, but he hasn’t ruled out ‘the opportunity to move up’, as he told FootNews.
However, he did make it clear that Aston Villa will ‘grow even more’ following their first foray into the big time in decades.
“I’ve heard from people left and right why I didn’t go to such a big club earlier, but I’m doing very well here,” said Tielemans about his Aston Villa form.
“The coach wanted to reach the Champions League and we’re already there, earlier than expected.
“Aston Villa will grow even more, but when you have the opportunity to move up, you never say no in advance. At the moment, I’m not thinking about it.”

Tielemans’ stats for Villa this season
Whether he is wearing the Belgian colours or donning the Claret & Blue shirt, this is Tielemans at his best and he can get even better.
He is now at the heart of everything Villa do and could argue that he has pushed ahead of everyone in that midfield when it comes to a starting spot.
Added to that, Douglas Luiz leaving Villa for Juventus has also opened another door for the Belgium international to take even more responsibility and run with it.
So far this season, WhoScored have rated Tielemans’ game at 7.06.
