Incredible insight into Aston Villa hero Douglas Luiz at Juventus, how he ‘trains badly’ & isn’t wanted

The more you read about Douglas Luiz’s start at Juventus, the more frustrated you will get as an Aston Villa fan.

It needs to be clear that Aston Villa were forced to sell Luiz to meet financial rules because, other than that, he was a key player under Unai Emery.

But the opportunity of moving to Turin, as well as the Midlands side bringing in players from the other end, came about and a deal was concluded.

Italian journalist and presenter Fabio Ravezzani explained why it has since proven to be a ‘bizarre’ transfer because neither club are using the players they purchased.

Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea were loaned out by Aston Villa to Bologna and Valencia, respectively in the summer.

As for Luiz, he has only started one game and Ravezzani added that he is a player who Juventus manager Thiago Motta doesn’t like or didn’t want.

Motta helped Bologna reach the Champions League last season and his efforts landed him on the doorstep of one of Europe’s biggest clubs as he took the Juve gig.

The irony of this Luiz deal is that, initially, Weston McKennie was talked about potentially moving to Villa, but now he is a starter and Ravezzani added that they ‘don’t know what to do with Luiz’.

What also doesn’t seem to be helping the Brazil international are suggestions that he is training ‘badly’, as Ravezzani told Calciomercato.

Douglas Luiz’s troubles at Juventus

“This was a Juve built in a somewhat strange way,” explained Ravezzani.  “For example, they tried every way to get rid of McKennie, who didn’t want to leave and now he’s become a starter. You don’t know what to do with Douglas Luiz and you’ve discovered that Nico Gonzalez probably isn’t useful to you when you have a player like Conceicao

The evaluation of Douglas Luiz was reasonable. That of Iling and Barrenechea was also reasonable, the two clubs did each other a favour. The bizarre thing is that neither club is fielding the players. Now he is a player that Thiago Motta evidently does not like, that is, Motta would play Koopmeiners even with one leg and never plays him, this says a lot

“Then I read on Tuttosport, I am not a frequenter of the Juventus locker room, that there is also an attitude problem during training, that is, he lets it be understood that he trains little and badly, I wonder when Juventus focused on him, why they were not informed of this thing, that is, if it were true that Douglas Luiz is a player who has little desire to train and to commit, Juventus should have known about it in time, not discovered it once he arrived in Turin”.

Aston Villa fans would be happy to take Douglas Luiz back

At the end of November, Villa face Juventus in the Champions League and it will mark Luiz’s return to a club where he made a name for himself.

There is still a long way to go for Luiz at Juventus, but if the Italian giants ever fancied parting ways with him, loan or whichever other way, then Villa fans would happily take him back.

What needs to be noted for those doubting him at Juventus is that he started slowly when he first joined Villa from Manchester City.

So, perhaps he is just one of those types of players because, when he does get going and starts to impose himself, then he will run that midfield for fun.
