Former Aston Villa man, Alan Hutton, has spoken out about Philippe Coutinho and doesn’t think a move away from the club will materialise.

The Brazilian has been linked to clubs in Qatar and Saudi Arabia in the past week but an injury may hamper any move.

This season, the attacker has only featured in 24 minutes and hobbled off against Everton.

He scored his first goal of last season against Arsenal, but injury resulted in him not playing another minute for the rest of the season.

Coutinho signed for Villa in January 2022 on loan, before his deal was made permanent four months later for £17 million.

With links away from the club and injury issues getting more frequent, could a move away be beneficial?

What has Alan Hutton said about Philippe Coutinho?

Cult hero, Hutton, has been speaking about the Brazilian star.

With Coutinho injured now with no return date, fans are assuming the worst of when they could next see him play.

Hutton believes it would be a strange move: “Coutinho’s not played a lot of football and he’s injured at this moment in time so for him to leave, I’d be surprised.”

The high fees and wages may tempt both parties in a move to the Middle East.

Despite the high outlay, the Scotsman doesn’t see it: “I don’t see any team paying a lot of money or shelling out the wages for a player who’s out injured for a few months.”

Despite not thinking a move will happen, the former Villain see’s him leaving the club in the future.

“Do you see his future being at Villa? Probably not.

“I do see it away from the football club but who can afford him at this moment in time, or is he willing to take a pay cut to go to play football?”

Despite not playing much of a role in his time at Villa, he is a top quality player and will be of use as the Villains progress in Europe.
