Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been discussing Aston Villa target, Morgan Rogers ahead of a potential move to the club this week.

The January transfer window is soon to come to a close with less than a week remaining and Aston Villa are looking to do business.

So far this month, the only signing that Unai Emery has made is the youngster Kosta Nedeljkovic from Red Star Belgrade.

This week has seen links suggesting that Leander Dendoncker is set to depart with a loan to Napoli imminent.

As a result of this, there has been rumours surrounding potential replacements with Florian Neuhaus being the latest.

Now a former Chelsea star has opened up about Morgan Rogers’ potential move prior to their win over Middlesbrough this week.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink praises Morgan Rogers

It is the worst-kept secret of the window that Aston Villa want some attacking reinforcements. It is even less of a secret that Rogers is the main target for the Villans.

The Englishman has been strongly linked with a move over recent weeks with several bids said to be lodged. Although none appear to have been accepted, the interest is certainly there.

Rogers started for Boro this week as his side travelled to face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final. It didn’t go as he would have hoped as they were smashed 6-1 on the night.

Prior to the game, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was full of praise for the forward and speaking on Sky Sports, he picked him out.

On him, he said: “I Like him a lot. Technically very good. Been brought up at Man City, was loaned out to Lincoln when I was at Burton. He is technically very good, strong.

“It didn’t work out at Bournemouth or Huddersfield. He has found a home I think now and is loving his football again. He also does the other side of the job, works really hard and can put the ball in the net. That’s why Aston Villa is after him.”

On the night, despite the heavy defeat, Rogers did score a top-class goal which saw him bend the ball into the far corner from range. This just sparked even more excitement around his signing on social media.

It doesn’t look as if a move is happening just yet with lots of toing and froing going on with Middlesbrough.

Rogers does appear to be Villa’s number-one signing so if he can be brought in Emery will be happy with the month’s business.
